One million homeowners unable to achieve sale in past year

One and a half times as many homeowners were unable to sell properties during the last 12 months as those who successfully moved house, according to new figures.

1.1m homeowners tried to sell their house but failed in the past year

There were more than 1.1 million failed attempts at selling, with unrealistic prices cited as a major factor, compared to 725,000 successful property transactions.

At the same time 755,000 prospective buyers were unable to complete purchases, one in ten of whom were unable to raise a sufficient deposit.

The findings are based on Land Registry and Register of Scotland data and opinion polls conducted among over 2000 adults in June this year for the bank Santander.

11,000 complaints A DAY

Britain's biggest High Street banks have been swamped by a staggering 11,000 complaints a day from angry customers.

The sheer scale of the shabby customer service doled out by the ‘big six’ banks was laid bare for the first time yesterday 

when they were forced to publish the number of disputes they had received in the first six months of the year.

Damning figures reveal as many as nine in every ten complaints about banking were rejected without so much as an apology.
